Artist's Comments

My entry for :icongamefreak38:'s Secret Santa event, a picture displaying :icondragonkick:'s character "What's Her Name", abbreviated WHN. I know when one thinks of the holidays, one may tend to think all snowing and pine trees, something similar to a snow globe. I decided to take a different approach, the kind one would find in a more tropical locale. I know this may not have been one would would have originally thought (I hope this doesn't go against what you were hoping for by the way D: ). Still, I hope you like it.

Actually, I finished with this picture days ago, last weekend to be precise. I was at first concerned about posting it too soon for the holidays, but after coming to realize that the deadline was sooner then I expected, I decided to go ahead and post it. Once more, I hope this is acceptable.

So yes, a few flaws here and there, I noticed. I think I massively messed up with WHN's anatomy, arm length and, ahem, pudginess (which this character frequently exhibits) specifically. The subject was unlike one I have tried before, so it was a rather interesting and ultimately rewarding challenge. Nonetheless, I realize I have made a few errors and I sincerely apologize.

I think as of late I have been trying out the short depth of field technique, meaning objects that are farther away appear out of focus. I think it adds more depth, something I feel I need to work on since my work is primarily cell-shaded as opposed to the traditional fading techniques. On the other hand, I hope I haven't been overdoing it either, as too much being out of focus has proven to be distracting on times. If anyone had any pointers on this subject, please let me know.

And that... is really it. Er, I hope you enjoy, :icondragonkick: and happy holidays!

Aw I LOVE it! :D

I really do, this is a fantastic peice, I especially love the background and how shiny and squishy she looks. Absolutley wonderful, thanks so much and I hope you have a fantastic christmas.

And regarding WHN's anatomy, just TRY and find where I've drawn her the same way twice, hehe, even I don't know her ';proper' proportions so I'm more than happy to see how people draw her. She looks quite slinky and gecko-ish (toes and tail) here and not as anthro-like, I think it makes her look especially cute :D

Once again, thanks so much.

Art is meant to be an unconstrained expression of the inexpressiable. It's our way of telling each other things we feel but are unable to put into words. It is ultimatley, the only real way of sharing who we really are with the rest of the world -Dilbert

Daww! I love how you did WHN's body! It's hard to pull off but..you did it really well. Cool idea with the tropic thing, too.

Haha! Very nice Leo! I think I know that place. Isn't it the delfino Island racing track from the game?

Hatred is nothing, but Poison. Poison for the soul, for you, and for anyone else. It makes you feel good, but it serves no one; for, it is just an invitation to kill, to win enemies, and to sink your soul into oblivion.
